Peaches - tough decision. When I was a Junior, I had a chance to buy a Corvette convertable at a good price ($3500 in 1980). I drove it for two years of High School and 5 years of college and sold it in 1987 for $6300. Have to admit it was pretty cool to have that kind of car at that point in my life and was lucky to come out ahead.

You are correct about the porsche being expensive to properly maintain and to repair. Have you checked to see what kind of maintenance you will be in for? What about insurance? Cost of speeding tickets? What about re-sale price in the future - will it be a good investment. And most important if you buy this car can you still be able to aford to have a girlfriend. And where will that leave Dirtysailor - without an X-box360!

What ever you do - be sure you visit with your parents - and get their approval.

Peaches, remember this is just a car, you should instead buy an XBOX 360 for our dorm room. Just kidding, but seriously get the 360.

Believe me, I would love to have this car more than anything else right now. The only thing holding me back is the finances. This is one of the problems that I have is with the mantaince. It could very well be reliable, it is a risk that has to be thought about. If any of you guys were in my situation, what would you do?

Buy it. Don't ask questions. Just buy it. And become a mechanic so you can fix it yourself.

On a more serious note but not a totally serious one, I have a little question about what I should do. I have found a car that is practically my dream car. It is on the very limits of my budget but still affordable. It is five years older than what I am driving now and has about the same amount of miles. The only problem with it is that if something were to go wrong with it it would more than likely break me to get it fixed. Is it worth it to have the car that I have always wanted with a little bit of risk or keep what I have?
